I installed Thunderbird portable on and the last update of the Thunderbird executable was. I believe Thunderbird portable uses the actual Thunderbird executable. This version has been updated on my old Thinkpad X1 (4th gen), with Thunderbird portable installed, and I would expect it to be updated on my new Thinkpad X1 (6th gen), with Thunderbird portable installed, but it is not. I did see where a fresh install of the portable is version 60.9.1 but installed portables, as far as my experience informs me, updates Thunderbird to its latest version, in this case v68.3.1.
I've always thought that was really cool. Well, of all the portable Thunderbirds I've used (7 I think) Thunderbird periodically updates itself, not the portable version but the executable itself and whatever else it needs.
